We support BOTH Macintosh and PC platforms. Like most graphic arts companies, we prefer the Mac over the PC; however, when customers supply us art, we end up doing about 50% of our work on the PC. Of all the programs we support, we prefer Adobe Illustrator for the Mac and CorelDRAW for the PC.

Below are the software programs that we support. Click on your software program to read some helpful information on how to set up your artwork to allow us to give you the best looking print possible.

Adobe Acrobat 8.0
PC Extension: .pdf

Files created in this format are (usually) not intended to be used as actual artwork. Portable Document Files (PDF) are made so that people can VIEW the artwork even if they don't have the original software program that created it. You can supply the PDF to us in its native format but we will NOT use it as art. We will import the file into a vector-based graphic program but sometimes things change and shift around (especially the fonts). If possible, get a hold of the file that the artwork was originally created in before it was made into a PDF.

In any case, please send us a printout of the artwork from your computer. This allows us to check and see what you're seeing and what you're expecting to get from us.

Adobe Illustrator CS3   First Choice Our Program of Choice!
PC Extension: .ai

This is an object orientated, vector-based program. Give us the artwork in its native format as an Adobe Illustrator file. Change the Output Attribute resolution to 2540 dpi. Supply all the placed and linked graphics. Send all fonts used or convert text to outlines to ensure that the label will print the same as what you see on your screen.
NOTE: We have found that Version 9 seems to be kind of buggy. Although we can accept it in this version, it would be better (if possible) for you to save it down to version 8 instead. (If you are using the Transparency filter, then it will need to stay in version 9 since version 8 does not support it).

In any case, please send us a printout of the artwork from your computer. This allows us to check and see what you're seeing and what you're expecting to get from us.

Adobe Photoshop CS3
PC Extension: .psd

This is a raster (not vector) based program in which all artwork is converted to pixels and are bitmapped. These files are usually placed or imported into other programs such as QuarkXPress or Adobe Illustrator. Give us the artwork in its native format as a Photoshop file (.psd), as a Photoshop EPS (.eps), or as a TIFF (.tif) with a 300 dpi resolution and a 1:1 scale or proportionally larger (not smaller).
  • If the image is to be printed in 4-color process, save the art in CMYK Mode (not RGB or Index Color).
  • If the image is to be printed as Black & White line art, save the art in Bitmap Mode (not Greyscale).
  • If the image is to be printed as a B/W Photo, save the art in Greyscale Mode.
In any case, please send us a printout of the artwork from your computer. This allows us to check and see what you're seeing and what you're expecting to get from us.

FreeHand 10.0 Second Choice
PC Extension: .fh8

We love FreeHand! This is an object orientated, vector-based program that is easy to use, yet is extremely accurate (you can size or position artwork to as many as 6 decimal places out). Give us the artwork in its native format as a FreeHand file. Change the Printer Resolution to 2540 dpi. Supply all the imported and linked graphics. Send all fonts used or convert text to paths to ensure that the label will print the same as what you see on your screen.

In any case, please send us a printout of the artwork from your computer. This allows us to check and see what you're seeing and what you're expecting to get from us.

Microsoft Word X
PC Extension: .rtf, .doc

This program is basically a word processing package with some desktop publishing bells and whistles. You can supply the Word document to us in its native format but we will NOT use it as art. We will use it as a reference for layout, general appearance and recreating the artwork in a vector-based graphic program. Send all fonts used to ensure that the label will look the same as what you see on your screen. Also, send any graphics you may have placed into file.

PageMaker 6.5
PC Extension: .pm6, .p65

This is a desktop publishing program in which art is imported and place into the document. Although this is a nice program for creating catalogs and brochures, it is not the ideal program for creating labels. You can give us the artwork in its native format as a PageMaker file. To ensure high quality printing, supply all the imported and placed graphics (EPS's, TIFF's, BMP's, etc.) along with the main file (even if they are already embedded). Also, send all fonts used to ensure that the label will look the same as what you see on your screen.

PC Extension: .qxd

This is a desktop publishing program in which art is imported and place into the document. Although this is one of the best programs for creating catalogs and brochures, it is not the ideal program for creating labels. You can give us the artwork in its native format as a QuarkXPress file.
